Freedom Messenger’s Youtube restored, continues to face censorship

As many of you are aware, Freedom Messenger’s main youtube channel is back online.

This comes after many weeks of our team having to deal with Youtube’s unresponsive copyright division. To date Freedom Messenger’s Youtube channel, which incidentally is the most watched channel for Iranian protest videos in all of Youtube with nearly 18 million views, has been shut down three times over copyright claims. Each time we have successfully fought the claims and been able to restore the channel, however each closure has delayed our work and frustrated our efforts.

We continue to maintain that the majority of the copyright claims against us are malicious in nature and are intended shut down our channel because of political motivations. We are prepared to take down any video that we do not own the rights to, and do not seek to profit from or take credit from anything that does not belong to us. However certain groups have continued to target our channel even going so far as reporting videos that were up to a year old, some of which are posted on dozens of other accounts on youtube without being reported.

As such we are in the process of seeking legal counsel in the hopes of preventing further shut downs of our channel in the future, and are prepared to take action so that we can continue to be the voice of the people of Iran.
